I've tracked these tires:

185 and 195 Faulken Ziex 512s on stock daises.
225/50 Toyo Proxxes 4s on 15x7 Enkeis
205 Nitto Neo Gens on 15x8 Konigs.

I've also had, but haven't tracked:
195 Toyo Proxxes on 15x7 Enkeis
205 Toyo R888s on 15x7 Enkeis

The R888s are dirt cheap if you can find SM take offs. No good for rain or snow. Or cold.

Proxxes were probably my favorite, although I should have used a 205 size on my 15x7, plus they were too tall in the 50 series. They're now a little too expensive now too.

The Faulkens were nice, although I think I was reaching their limits during my first few track days, which isn't a good sign. They'd probably be great for autox. Very sticky on the streets, my dad and I made a set last 40,000 miles, with just me and a few track days they lasted 20,000.

I'm just getting used to the Nittos. Not sure I'm a huge fan, but they're holding up amazing for a $65 tire. They're now $75 though.

These three are all amazing in the rain, the Proxxes even got some snow time while I was still N/A and did fine.

The cheapest method I've found is to buy from onlinetires.com or tirerack.com, then have them mounted and balanced locally for ~$70. It's a little more work than going into Les Schwab and having them do it all in seven hours, but for example those proxxes 4s from Les Schwab would be ~$700 mounted and balanced, and a little under $500 if purchased online and mounted locally.

Brain, summit didn't show a 205/50-15 you had it linked to a 205/50-16

curly 02-25-2012 12:25 PM

That's cause he has 16s.

MF-Brain 02-25-2012 12:26 PM

whoops, i didnt even notice that. looks like they dont make 15s.

MF-Brain 02-25-2012 12:28 PM

the ZE-912 is a good choice.

curly 02-25-2012 03:55 PM

Do they still make the 512?
