Cheap idea

Cheap idea
Well I have a cheap idea, but I'm not really sure how or if it will work. I have my GoPro HD on my race car. Its mounted on the roll cage facing forward. But what I was thinking would be pretty cool (and cheap) would be to take my old xbox live camera and mount it facing me or the pedals, something to that extent.
Of course it would have to be rubber mounted to help with vibrations, but would it even be possible to use without a laptop? Could the thing just have a power source and have it run to a hard drive? I dont really want to buy another GoPro just to do some stuff like this. I know the image quality really starts lacking if you are about 10 feet away from the thing, so thats why it would be inside facing me.
Any ideas? (Other than buy another camera, because if thats the case I would rather just do without) I just want to try it because it just sits in a box in my closet and I want to get some use out of it.

i dont believe it can be done, you have to have something to decode the data from camera for the computer to store in a file or show on the screen. if you have a old camera with a record function you could mount that.
