Good afternoon, was searching some more forums for the Miata and found this one. I am on another but have not really gotten into it like previous forums for other cars I have/used to have so not new to how stuff works in that regard. I purchased my first Miata a little over 2 weeks ago. Its a 2002 Special Edition in Blazing Yellow Mica. It has now just over 33K miles and I am really enjoying it. I've had quite the selection of rides in the past 11-12 years. My other vehicle is a 1996 F150 I bought off my father for $500, great truck just needs some paint . I had a Cobalt SS before the Miata but wanted out of the payment, both car and insurance but could not be car-less for long so I got looking at what I really would like to have and in the end the Miata won out. I was also looking for a 2nd gen MR-2, a Corvette zo6(preferred) of as close to new as possible in the 20-25k range and some other cars. MR-2s are hard to come buy at a good price and being in good shape and the vette was just a curiosity then anything else. Found one but it had high miles and I like low mileage cars, I barely drive as it is haha and the Miata popped up at a dealer so I went for it. There was plenty to choose from in my search but this won out do to it being an SE and all.

The 93 is my housemates, he got his a few days after I brought mine home. The pics with his are the newest by a few days compared to the ones where you can kind of see a stripe on the doors which I removed 10 mins after taking the pics. Not too much planned for it for now, maybe lower it just a titch down the road and do a full exhaust setup to get some power and a nice note. Thats the one thing I miss about my SS, the power and noise but I love this car, handling is superb..

Thanks and I am actually in Matthews/Indian Trail but close enough to Charlotte. The car is in pretty decent shape, has some issues but for the year I cannot really argue with them.

?, I am looking right now but do these take regular gas or is it better to run 89 or 93? I ask because I have read on some forums that seem to point they do not run regular 87. I am looking online again for the answer and probably consult the manual. To me I figured 87 being nothing special but just a 1.8L but want to be sure. ***edit*** And it recommends premium. Tag was removed from the gas cap but luckily I found it in the glove box in the owners manual.

My 99 runs as well on 87 as anything else. I do run premium from time to time to keep the injectors and valves clean but generally run 87. Mine also has an 01 bottom end.

Yea, I guess I cannot get away from premium cars, explains why the car does not feel as "powerful" as it should. Just take it easy on this little bit of regular left in the tank and put 93 in from now on.

I really like the color and look of that car as well man! I didn't know you could get one in Yellow.

I don't know if Premium is the way to go red. He is on the stock ECU. You are just throwing money away running Premium regularly on it.

NM, looks like the NB2s and their sexy VVT want premium. My lowly NB1 not VVT likes 87.
