Please help me !!! 01 miata crank but no start
PLEASE HELP ME !!!
Mazda miata mx5
2001
5 speed
all stock
will crank but wont start
Was running before minor front end accident
it gets fuel
does NOT get spark ( my test light says it does get 1 spark but only when first turning the key and not always ) All cylinders are the same.
ive replaced...
The green main relay
crank sensor
Cam sensor
trigger plate behind harmonic balancer
Coil packs
vvt solinoid on top of valve cover
Ive also checked and double checked the timing
i have plenty of power
Ive checked the fuses
.... AND STILL NO CHANGES!!!
I had codes "P0430" and "P0012"
ive bought a new ecu and emmobolizer but havnt tried to install.
These engines seem so easy and yet so complicated
Any help is greatly appreciated

The P0012 is common on NB2s, and usually related to the VVT not working correctly. Some usually try a thinner oil like 5w, or an oil with some detergents to try and flush out any crud. You might see if you can clean up the VVT valve, as other have found rebuilding it with new o rings can help. It’s the small vertical pin like valve behind the cam gear under the valve cover.
note, I don’t have much experience with 01s, but this is a common issue.
