Lost motivation to...
do anything with this 1990 miata thats been sitting in storage for the last 2 years (with a complete begi s2 turbo kit and MS partly in the trunk and the passenger seat (that's currently in the for sale section)). Had a dream, 2 years ago, of autocrossing it, blah blah blah, and since then have lost all desire to do anything with it in which i have no idea even runs (thanks to not getting past page 11 of the install manual (the page where you drill into the oil pan and realize you've made a huge mistake if your hearts not in it.)
I now need a beater, considering my v8 isnt practical for 22mile/day trips to work, and have been staring at this faded red go-kart of a vehicle asking myself "WTF?!?!?"
What would you do?

first welcome to the site, second find someone in your area with a turbo'd miata and drive it. theres nothing like it ( my dad owns a 06 mustang gt, and a 67 cobra replica) i have much more fun driving the miata. that being said, if your hearts not in it by all means dont start. but i think you might change your mind after a bit of seat time in one. and you can still easily get good gas milage if you keep your foot out of it.

Hey, thanks for the encouragement.
Though, whats on my mind now is the fact that i've confirmed with the girlfriend it'd be out of the garage by march 1st, the $ for misc components (jack stands, exhaust system, band-aids, etc...) and with any other previous 4 banger i've owned, rear seats.
I have a few weeks to make the ultimate decision, and until then, will hunt down one of the boosted miata owners on base.

Otherwise, I think Tadd got it right man. Try a boosted miata out and see how you like it, I have never driven one, but riding in it (even with a broken 3rd gear) was amazing.

I know how you feel. I love my car but the sight of rust on it (passenger rocker panel on mine is beginning to develop) is enough to ruin a nice morning. I want to fix it early this year.. then decided my next mod is a hardtop to keep water from getting into my draining system.
