Default Front strut removal.

Just wondering if I will have to remove the upper or and lower control arms to get the front struts out? I couldn't seem to get it out just by taking everything loose and swinging them down as low as I could like the Haynes repair manual said to do. Other then that the only thing i could see to do was to remove one or both of the control arms.

It is much easier if you remove the upper control arm bolt. It is very long and slides out the front. Then you can just press down on the lower control arm and slide the strut out.

That is what I as looking at and thinking of doing, just wondering if I was on the right track. Maybe my next day off and I don't have prior obligations i will get it done.

Technically you've already removed all the struts.

because there are no struts on a miata.

I actually take the knuckle out of the lower control arm. Its two bolts and you don't have to mess with getting that pesky long bolt out.

Removing the knuckle is two "smaller" bolts total, but becareful not to mix up the lower shock bolt with the knuckle bolt. The knuckle bolt is just a hair longer (about +5mm).

I could have just have said something like i would have heard at work from a customer. "I need the tube thingy that is inside of the coil shaped thingy attached the a frame under the car." But the best is always the I need the suspension bushing.
