1999 Miata Engine with 2001 VVT Head
I bought the following
MS3X357-C_BL Assembled Megasquirt-III V3.57 with MS3X
JimStim-C Assembled JimStim diagnostic board
StimPower Power supply for JimStim
DIYBOB-N76K DIYBOB breakout board kit
MSPiggy 18" main board wiring harness
MS3X-Piggy8 18" MS3X wiring harness
MS3TuneCable USB communications cable for MS3
for my 1990 Miata.
The Miata currently has a 1999 engine with 99 intake(VICS) and 2001 head with VVT. The VVT is not connected to anything.
We bumped the valve timing by 1 tooth on the intake which brought the valve timing pretty close to the max change that the VVT makes but it's the same at all rpms.
The wiring is basically the minimum needed to make the engine run.
No AC, No O2 sensor, No VVT, etc. etc.
Car runs great but I think that with the MS, Wideband O2, functioning VVT I will find some more horsepower.
My plan was to start with just replacing the stock ecu with the MS3 to get the car to run like it does now and then add in a wideband O2 sensor and finally get the VVT working.
I've found numerous articles (some excellent) on installing the DIYPNP for 1999 in a 1999 but that's not what I have. I have the Meqaquirt 3 with the MS3X so I can do the VVT.
Does anyone have a pointer to the info I need to get the MS3 wired to the DIYBOB?
I've been reading wiring diagrams and forums for about a couple of weeks and my head is starting to hurt.
