Default 2012 Track Schedule and Invitation

2012 MVP Track Time Schedule

Good Morning MFZ:

I'm new here, but thought I'd drop an invite to all of you.

MVP Track Time (www.MVPTrackTime.com) is extremely excited to announce our 2012 track event schedule.

Revise your 2012 track schedule, as we've added a few new dates for your driving pleasure, notably Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas and a second weekend at Road America in July (think cool Wisconsin in mid-Summer). Keep an eye on our web site for updates as the 2012 progresses.

MVP Track Time’s goal remains the same, to bring you great value with more actual track time at each event for less money. Our three run group (Novice, Intermediate and Advanced) format allows us to maximize actual time driving on the track, keeping paddock time to a minimum.

Below you will find our 2012 schedule, subject to possible revision as the year progresses.
April 14 – 15: Putnam Park (Greencastle, IN.) – 6th Annual “Tax-Freedom Track Weekend”

May 12-13: Heartland Park (Topeka, KS.) – “Yes Toto, We Are In Kansas.”

June 11: Autobahn Country Club I (Joliet, IL) - Full 3.56 Mile Track

July 7-8: Road America (Elkhart Lake, WI) – ”Another Weekend At Road America”

August 6: Autobahn Country Club II (Joliet, IL) - Full 3.56 Mile Track

October 13 - 14: Road America (Elkhart Lake, WI) – 3rd Annual ”Cheese Heads On Track”

November 17 – 18: Road Atlanta (Braselton, GA) – 4th Annual “Flyin’ Turkey Trot”
Registration (on line or mail in) for all our track events is available at:As always, we schedule a minimum of six, 20-minute sessions daily for each of the three run groups with qualified instructors available for the Novice run group.

I hope you’ll join us in 2012 for plenty of on-track excitement with MVP Track Time. All are invited and welcome. Please, don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions.

Happy Motoring and I hope to see you at the track in 2012!

6x20 minutes sessions in one day is a lot. That's awesome.

Can you tell everyone a little bit about your HPDEs? How do you perform tech? How are you instructors chosen? Run groups and rules for passing?

We handle tech in two ways. A driver can have a certififed mechanic do an ipnsection with our tech sheet two weeks before the track event or we can do tech at the hotel the night before or at the track the morning of. Of note, we only allow SA2005 and SA2010 rated helmets.

MVP has three run groups, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced based on a driver's experience. We split drivers into a specific group when they register.

Instructors are all PCA, BMWCCA, ACNA, NASA or SCCA certified and we only look at new instructors who are referrred in by an existing instructor.

Passing rules are pretty standard. Noivce and Intermediate can pass on designated straights with a point by. Advanced drivers are allowed to pass on both designated straights and designated turns with a point by.

Hope to see more MX5 drivers at the track. Happy Motoring!

Are you still doing the lead-follow session for novice group? what is your instructor-to-student ratio?

I see you are doing the full Autobahn course, I'm going to have to sign up for that. Might be in for the Putnam event as well. I didn't make it down there last year for any runs.

Thanks for the info.

Our June 11th Autobahn and July 7-8 Road America track dates are already 1/2 full. Hope to see the Miata gang at the track.

Registration is available at: http://www.MVPTrackTime.com/id47.html

Wow, they are filling up fast. I saw you post on RX7club as well. It would be cool to see both Miatas and RX-7 there. I cannot make Putnam this month, but I can't resist the full track at Autobahn. I believe I will be signing up for that.

I'm always surprised we don't have more Mazdas in general, particuarly RX-7. I guess as they age, people are less willing to take risks with them.

Hope to see you at the track.

I know that is my thinking. I may take my FD RX-7 R1 to Autobahn being it's my home track and there isn't anything to hit next year. I need to rebuild the motor next winter first. This year I will continue to rock the miata at the track.

The word has been murmured around that you guys tend to look down your noses at Miatas and downgrade them to slow run groups regardless of experience and/or whp. And that the point-bys aren't enforced well among the Porsche wine and cheesers that can't stomach the ego sting of being passed by a Miata. As someone who went a full lap at Sebring behind a Ferrari 599 on Saturday who couldn't find the driving line if he opened the door and felt around on the ground for it, I understand that concern. One of the people I heard from that had run with MVP said that they had to do lead-follow for a bunch of laps even though they were quite familiar with the particular track and had run there a couple of times before. That doesn't sound like much fun.

I am interested in your event in November at RA but want to know that the seventeen hour plus drive and a thousand dollar investment will be everything I am hoping for. I only go to the track every two or three months so I try to choose wisely what would be the best use of my time. While I realize that these are anecdotal incidents and are difficult to deal with on your end, as a potential consumer I only have this sort of information on which to make a determination. Please address these concerns, as best you can in the absence of specifics, and please offer me some reassurances or explanations that might give comfort as I make my decision.
