Default NB foglight mod- Run your foglights with your parking lights.

So I wanted to have my fog lights come on with just my parking lights. So I checked out the Garage on m.net and found the instructions. I must say, reading them was kinda frustrating and there was a severe lack of pictures. Not to mention that there is a stern warning about how when it was done their way, there would be no more "beeeeeeeeeee" if you left your lights on with the keys out.

So I came up with my own solution. My solution turns the fog lights on with the parking lights, lights up the fog light switch and retains the warning buzzer.

1) Disconnect battery.

2) Open hood and locate the main fuse block.

3) Loosen and remove the 2(two) 10mm nuts holding the fuse block down. Pull up on the fuse block and remove the relay cover thats next to it/under the fender. It has two little clips holding it in, using a small flat head screw driver to pop them loose. Then just pull up on the cover.

4) The relay on the far left (closest to the firewall) is the relay for the parking light circuit.

5) Using a splice connector (or whatever you want to call it), tap into the yellow wire with the green stripe. This is the positive signal that activates the parking lights. I used some 14 gauge black wire.

6) Put the relay back on it's hanger, put the cover back on and replace the fuse block.

7) Under the wiper motor there is a rubber gromit. Remove it for access through the firewall. I used a medium sized screwdriver to poke through the rubber matting thats glued to the inside of the firewall. Once i had the hole done, I used a stiff piece of wire to pull the electrical wire through.

Hooking up power. This is the fun part. Remove the knee/kick panel under the steering column. Once this is removed, you'll be able to locate the fog light relay. In the picture, i have a screwdriver pointing at it. Pull it down and it will come off it's hanger.

9) Using another splice clamp, splice onto the red wire with the yellow stripe. Don't forget to run the wire that you just pulled through the firewall over to the splice!!

10) Cut the red/yellow wire where it goes toward the main harness. This way the only power going to the fog light relay is the signal power from the running light relay. If you don't your headlights will turn on before they are supposed to. I don't know why, but this happened to me and I realized i needed to cut the red/yellow wire so it is no longer a source of power.

Reconnect the battery and profit!
